The most important thing you can do to live your dreams is the practice of visualizing them every day. Without a visual representation of the things you want most in life, you are at risk of losing sight of your goals.
Dream Boards, or Vision Boards, are essential in creating a daily reminder of the things you want to accomplish. If you’re interested in how to create your very own dream board, read on!
1. Do some daydreaming
The first step to creating your dream board is to develop an idea of what you want in life. It does not have to mean getting out a piece of paper and creating a detailed list of all the things you want. Instead, you can take some time to contemplate the kind of life you want to lead and how you want to spend your time. Interested in spending more time in nature? Looking to get in better shape? Hoping to get married some day (maybe even soon)? Let your mind wander – actually, let it run wild! – and visualize your ideal lifestyle.

2. Find some “life art”
This is the time to raid your junk room, or your parent’s junk room. Find magazines and other sources of visual imagery that represent the lifestyle you daydreamed about before. If you can’t find what you want in a magazine or newspaper, you can always find it online.
3. Gather your supplies
You will need a sizable piece of foamcore, or a bulletin board if you plan on making yourself a little more flexible. Other supplies:
- scissors
- glue stick
- pen or magic marker
- imagination
Now, this is your chance to pretend like you’re back in kindergarten. Let the artist shine. You’re not just creating a poster, you’re creating your life. Don’t worry about making it pretty. All that matters is that it is relevant to your dreams and embodies the things you most value.
4. Put it all together
I highly recommend glue because it’s permanent. If not, tacks will do.
5. Hang it prominently
This is the most important part! Make sure you hang up your dream board somewhere where your eyes will pass over it every day. There is no point in putting time and energy into a project like this if it ends up in the back of your closet or leaning against a wall in your office. Don’t worry about your interior design
